  The McMillan arts centre, a wonderful gem of a gallery in a historical building that was formerly a school house, is located in the heart of beautiful Parksville. There are two main galleries where exhibitions change monthly and host concerts, performances and story telling. A cute gift shop filled with treasures created by local artists may have that perfect gift! A studio that is hopping with classes, workshops, demonstrations and painting groups can be rented for occasions of choice. Resident artists that paint in the gallery weekly are happy to discuss the shows and show their work to the visitors. These are just some of the wonderful experiences available at the McMillan arts centre. A truly remarkable place!

  Wonderful galleries that change monthly and a gift shop full of quality product, all locally made. Concerts, story telling events and all kinds of classes will keep everyone entertained. A worthy charity to support.

  The art council has worked very hard at sproocing the whole place up with a coat of paint, an art and craft shop, and many well organized programs. As a first the artists that it attracts are of high calibre. A lot of work has gone into keeping this historical site open, yet there is great adverse conflict with people that fear change and are loosing their autonomous control. Some groups feel they own the place and want nothing but self gratification and total control in spite of the fact that this is a public institution not a private club. But when it comes to do some volunteering even these folks hide in the rafters. What is the future of the Macmillan Art Centre you ask? If this kind of ignorance persists and progress is sabataged, I fear the end is insight.

  All kinds of things going on in this vibrant community space - beautiful galleries, gift shop with unique finds, at least two performances a month, an ongoing variety of workshops, plus reasonable prices for room rentals. This place has it all! Add to that the friendly, welcoming atmosphere, and this is a place not to be missed. Bring your visitors here for a taste of local arts and culture!
